The staff of this conference have gathered in the first time starting from some Wikimedians who met in the meeting about Wikimania`09, and they started to discussed about holding this conference and setting up its outlines.
This Conference is not officially sponcered by the Wikimedia Foundation. However, wikimedians who organize this conference have optained a permission from Wikimedia Foundation to use the word "Wikimedia" as a part of the conference name.
The organizers of this conference has by any mean no relation to Japan Wikimedia Chapter which is still in the planning stage.
